Trump Rejects Seven-Day Roadmap to End War, Reopen Strait
US President Donald Trump has rejected a seven-day proposal from Iran that aimed to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and restart nuclear negotiations with Washington. The proposal, conveyed through Qatar, called for the US to lift its naval blockade of Iranian ports, ease sanctions on Iranian oil exports, and observe a ceasefire involving Lebanon.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the plan would restore normal maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz within seven days if Washington accepted the terms. Under the proposed timeline, the US would lift its naval blockade, sanctions on Iranian oil exports would be waived, and a ceasefire would be observed in Lebanon.
The Trump administration has told Iran and regional mediators that Washington does not intend to lift the maritime blockade, according to officials cited by The Washington Post. Instead, the US is considering continued economic and military pressure on Tehran, with sanctions potentially being expanded.
