US President Donald Trump released two AI-generated images on his social media platform that depict a US attack on the Iranian oil island of Kharg and the seizure of an Iranian oil tanker. The images, which appear to be designed to intimidate Iran, show aircraft and vessels bombing the island and Trump standing with a US flag on the seized tanker.

The release of these images comes despite conciliatory messages from both Tehran and Washington in recent days, with some progress reported in talks between Oman and Iran. However, Iranian officials have expressed skepticism about the chances of a permanent agreement between the two sides.

According to CBS, Trump paused US bombings on Friday as Omani officials flew to Tehran for talks, reportedly to avoid disrupting delicate diplomacy efforts. Progress had been made in talks between Oman and Iran on reopening the Strait of Hormuz and their territorial waterways in the area.
