Trump Secures Control of 65 Billion Barrels of Venezuelan Oil Reserves
US President Donald Trump announced that his administration has secured a deal with Venezuela to gain majority control of more than 65 billion barrels of oil reserves. This agreement is touted as 'THE BIGGEST OIL DEAL IN WORLD HISTORY' and comes at no cost to US taxpayers, according to Trump.
The deal more than doubles the US oil reserve, which had hit lows not seen since the 1980s, according to Department of Energy data released earlier this month. The agreement follows the US attack on Venezuela in January, during which Nicolás Maduro and his wife were captured.
Trump stated that US officials coordinated with government leaders in Venezuela and utilized a partnership with private businesses to secure the deal. He also claimed that this transaction will strengthen the relationship between Venezuela and the United States.
The agreement comes as consumers are grappling with spiking energy prices, which have reached an average of $4.09 per gallon in the US, a 27% increase year over year, according to AAA. Trump believes that the deal should bring down prices at the pump.
