Trump Seeks China's Help to Boost Oil Supplies Amid Global Crisis

US President Donald Trump has urged his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping to increase oil production in China during their recent meeting, according to the White House.

The request comes as global energy supplies remain tight due to conflicts in the Middle East. The war between Iran and Saudi Arabia has led to a significant reduction in oil exports from these countries, causing prices to rise. Brent crude, the international standard, closed last week at $104 a barrel.

Trump also mentioned that 29 vessels had been escorted out of the Strait of Hormuz under military supervision after being guided by US forces. However, despite these efforts, oil supplies have still not returned to pre-war levels. The closure of the Bab el-Mandeb Strait to Saudi-flagged oil tankers has further exacerbated the situation.
