Trump Set to Reveal Korea's $54 Billion Alaska LNG Bet
US President Donald Trump is reportedly considering announcing Korea's investment projects in the United States, including a plan to invest $54 billion in the Alaska liquefied natural gas (LNG) development project.
The Korean government has recently reported that it will push ahead with building the Encinal gas combined-cycle power plant in Texas as part of its strategic investment in the US. The construction of eight large nuclear power plants in the United States and the Alaska LNG development project were classified as subjects for later consultation.
Korea had previously pledged a total of $350 billion in investment in the United States, including $150 billion in shipbuilding cooperation and $200 billion in strategic investment, on the condition that the US lower the tariff on Korean-made products from 25% to 15%.
