Trump Threatens Higher Costs for South Korea Over Alaskan LNG Project
US President Donald Trump has threatened to increase costs for South Korea if it rejects its participation in an Alaskan liquefied natural gas (LNG) project.
Trump made these remarks at a White House press availability, stating that 'if they don't want to do it, that's okay with me. I'll just charge them more.'
The LNG project involves the construction of a pipeline from the North Slope to southern Alaska to transport natural gas for shipments to Asia.
Seoul has yet to finalize its decision on participating in the project, which is valued at over $50 billion, according to US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick.
