US President Donald Trump has threatened to impose economic isolation on Iran, which could have far-reaching consequences for countries that trade with Tehran. According to recent data, China is Iran's biggest trading partner, accounting for over 80% of its shipped oil in 2025. China bought an average of 1.38 million barrels per day of Iranian oil last year.

The US Treasury has already imposed sanctions on a Chinese independent refinery for buying billions of dollars' worth of Iranian oil. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian warned that 'sanctions and pressure will not solve the problem,' calling on all parties to resolve the issue through political and diplomatic means.

Oman, Turkey, Iraq, Pakistan, India, Armenia, and Azerbaijan are also among Iran's major trading partners. These countries may face significant challenges if Trump follows through on his promise to impose unprecedented economic warfare on Iran.
