Trump Threatens New Strikes as Iran Warns of Choke Point Closures
US embassies in the Middle East have issued warnings to American citizens due to escalating tensions between the US and Iran. The situation has become increasingly volatile, with President Donald J. Trump stating that he is considering new military strikes against Iran.
Tehran's Supreme National Security Council secretary, Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr, warned that a continued naval blockade by the US would not only restrict shipping through the Strait of Hormuz but also lead to the closure of other strategic choke points.
The conflict has already disrupted traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for oil and liquefied natural gas exports. The price of Brent crude has surged above $90 a barrel, up from below $72 at the start of last month.
