Trump Threatens to Annihilate Iran, Claims Global Peace Would Result
US President Donald Trump has intensified his threats against Iran, stating that 'annihilating' the country could bring about global peace.
In an interview with Time magazine, Trump claimed that by destroying Iran, he believes peace would be achieved worldwide. He referred to the current situation as a 'bloodbath,' citing the regime's crackdown on anti-government protesters in December 2025, which resulted in between 72,000 and 75,000 deaths.
Trump also emphasized the human cost of US involvement in the region, stating that 'we lost 18' military personnel. He asserted that Iran is 'virtually destroyed,' with its economy in ruins, inflation exceeding 300%, and its naval, air, and air defense forces 'gone.'
The president's comments come as tensions remain high in the Persian Gulf, with Brent crude prices breaking $100 per barrel due to uncertainty about oil flow along the region's main export route. The US has also announced new sanctions against entities linked to Iranian arms procurement networks, offering rewards of up to $15 million for information leading to the dismantling of the IRGC's financial mechanisms.
