US President Donald Trump has threatened to strike Iran 'very hard', targeting its energy infrastructure, including oil refineries and power stations. Speaking at a Cabinet meeting at Camp David in Maryland, Trump stated that the US will hit Iran 'very hard' until they can no longer take it. He expressed frustration over diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the conflict, accusing Iran of repeatedly failing to honour agreements.

Trump's comments were echoed by White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, who accused Iran of signing a memorandum of understanding with the US on a ceasefire last month before violating it by 'firing on commercial ships and killing American soldiers'. The administration has made it clear that President Trump will not stand by and allow this terrorist behaviour to continue.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Trump had ordered a new offensive aimed at forcing Tehran to surrender, with the operation potentially beginning within hours. CBS News also reported that the US and Israel were planning co-ordinated strikes on Iranian energy facilities, possibly within hours. The targets could include oil refineries and power stations.

Trump has repeatedly threatened to strike Iran's critical infrastructure throughout the conflict, vowing to destroy 'a bridge or a power plant' every time ships were attacked in the strategically important Strait of Hormuz. The US struck an Iranian ammunition depot in Esfahan with 2,000-pound bunker-buster bombs, part of ongoing US operations targeting Iran's military infrastructure.
