Trump Threats Send Oil Prices Soaring Past $90 Per Barrel
International oil prices surged over 7% in one day after US President Donald Trump threatened to 'hit' Iran, escalating geopolitical risks in the Middle East.
Brent crude futures rose past $90 per barrel to $90.01, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures increased by 6.9% to $84.71 per barrel.
This dramatic shift comes after Trump's hardline stance on Iran during a Fox News interview, stating 'We will hit them; they will be hit hard.'
The market had previously bet on a diplomatic solution being reached between the US and Iran, causing oil prices to plummet 8.7% to $88.36 per barrel for Brent crude futures.
