Trump to Unveil $54 Billion South Korean Investment in Alaska LNG Project

US President Donald Trump is set to announce a major investment from South Korea in the US energy sector, with $54 billion allocated towards an Alaska liquefied natural gas project. The project, championed by Glenfarne Group, aims to construct an 800-mile pipeline to transport natural gas from the North Slope to a facility near Anchorage for export to Asia.

The state of Alaska holds a 25% stake in the LNG project, while Glenfarne owns the remaining share. The project is expected to reach completion by 2030 under optimal circumstances.

South Korea's investment in the US energy sector also includes up to $350 billion in commitments, part of a July 2025 trade deal with Trump that sets 15% tariffs on South Korean goods entering the US market.
