As the Iran war nears its six-month mark and facing dwindling stockpiles of key weapons, President Donald Trump has announced an 'unprecedented' level of economic warfare against Tehran.

The US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent warned that nations and companies conducting business with Iran will face secondary sanctions, including those in China and India, two major buyers of Iranian oil.

Richard Goldberg, a former coordinator for diplomatic pressure on Iran during Trump's first term, sees the strategy as 'uncharted waters' that could ultimately lead to Iran's capitulation.

The decision by the United Arab Emirates to suspend trade with Iran has further isolated the country, which has already been heavily penalized by US sanctions.
