US President Donald Trump has escalated Washington's pressure campaign against Iran by warning of 'TREMENDOUS Economic Consequences' for countries that maintain ties with Tehran.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump described the move as the 'most crushing economic operation ever taken against any country.'

He demanded an end to Iranian oil smuggling, financial swap arrangements, cash transfers, exchange houses, ship registries, and front companies, saying 'It all needs to stop NOW.'

The warning follows the expiry on Monday of a 60-day ceasefire with Iran, which has been at odds with Washington and Israel since February.
