Trump Unveils $54 Billion Alaska LNG Project Investment
President Donald Trump announced a $54 billion investment in the Alaska LNG project as part of a broader $200 billion deal from South Korea. The announcement came just days before the midterm election, and was made with the support of Alaska's delegation, including Representative Nick Begich, Governor Mike Dunleavy, and Senator Dan Sullivan.
The investment is aimed at expanding economic ties between the US and South Korea, as part of a 2025 trade agreement. According to Trump, the project will deliver nearly 4 billion cubic feet of liquefied natural gas per day, saving Alaska households up to $1,500 or even $2,200 per year in energy costs.
Sullivan shared his optimism about the project's potential, stating that it could 'unleash all kinds of other opportunities in Alaska, manufacturing opportunities. The sky is the limit.'
