Trump Warns of 'Annihilation' if No Peace Deal Reached with Iran
US President Donald Trump issued a warning to Iran on Tuesday, stating that he could 'annihilate' the country if no peace deal is reached. This threat came after his address to the UN General Assembly, in which he defended the US campaign against Iran and said Washington had prevented Tehran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
The president's statement sent shockwaves through the markets, with oil prices remaining elevated. WTI crude oil was unchanged at $94.59 per barrel, while Brent crude rose 0.15% to $99.40 per barrel.
Trump also mentioned that US special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner had held a productive meeting with mediators involved in efforts to negotiate with Iran. The president predicted his administration could reach a peace agreement with Iran after the Nov. 3 US midterm elections.
