Trump's Comments Send Mixed Signals to Global Markets
US President Donald Trump's comments on meeting officials from Iran at the UN General Assembly in New York have had mixed reactions on global markets. Trump mentioned that he would make a choice, including possibly 'annihilating' the Islamic Republic, if no deal is reached.
The S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average futures gained 0.1% on Wednesday, while Nasdaq futures remained steady.
Oil prices declined with Brent crude dipping 0.3% to $98.99 per barrel, still higher than the roughly $72 per barrel level from late February before the Iran war.
The easing of oil prices is also attributed to reports that Saudi Arabia was working to restore its east-west pipeline, which was disabled in an attack.
