Trump's Diplomatic Efforts Weigh on Oil Prices Amid US-Iran Conflict

Oil prices dropped to their lowest level in a week on Monday due to diplomatic hopes surrounding the UN General Assembly in New York. The US-Iran conflict continues to impact global energy dynamics, but a degree of risk premium is being removed from oil prices.

Brent crude fell by 2.12% to $101.67 a barrel, marking its fourth consecutive session of losses. This drop in price comes as US President Donald Trump outlined three options for ending the conflict: destroying Iran militarily, economic isolation, or reaching a negotiated deal.

Trump expressed openness to meeting Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian during the UNGA, though Tehran has yet to signal reciprocal interest. This development has led to hopes that a diplomatic path may be found to de-escalate the conflict.
