Trump's Energy Policy Takes Center Stage Ahead of Midterm Elections

Republicans are pinning their hopes on an energy policy that promotes more production and lower prices to boost voter turnout in November. Democrats, however, blame President Donald Trump's war with Iran for rising fuel costs.

New Hampshire is a key battleground state, where Republicans argue expanding natural gas pipeline capacity is crucial to lowering high utility bills. At the 2026 New Hampshire Energy Summit, Parker Littlehale, Eversource's wholesale power supply manager, pointed out that New England's limited pipeline capacity and reliance on expensive imported liquefied natural gas (LNG) drive up costs.

Littlehale said, 'We don't have enough natural gas pipelines to get enough gas here to heat the homes and businesses and run the power plants. The region relies on global LNG to balance demand and supply, and unlike domestic natural gas prices, global LNG prices are much higher.'

Republicans like NH-01 candidate Anthony DiLorenzo advocate for an 'all of the above' energy policy to save residents money and promote economic investment in the state. He said, 'If we want lower energy costs, we need pipelines.'
