Trump's Fake Video Sparks Confusion Over Kharg Island Attack
A video posted by former US President Donald Trump on his Truth Social account appears to show oil storage tanks and refinery infrastructure engulfed in flames on Kharg Island. The footage, accompanied by a message from Trump stating 'Kharg Island being blown to smithereens', was deemed highly realistic and created the impression of an American operation against one of Iran's most strategically important energy facilities.
A US official confirmed that no attack had taken place on Kharg Island, which is Iran's principal petroleum export facility. The official stated that the island was not among the locations targeted in the latest exchange of fire between US and Iranian forces.
Hamid Bovard, head of the National Iranian Oil Company, dismissed Trump's post as 'laughable' and reported conditions on Kharg Island remained calm and appropriate.
