Oil prices declined on September 23 following US President Donald Trump's announcement about 'very good' talks between Washington and Tehran at the UN. The price of Brent crude fell to $98.91 per barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate dropped to $89.93.

The decline came after Trump said that representatives from both sides had a three-hour meeting, which he deemed 'very productive.' He also stated that another meeting was scheduled for the near future.

Quintex Intel analyst Stephen Innes noted that the meeting shifted market assessments toward the possibility of a diplomatic process. However, Innes believes that a final deal still appears distant.
