Trump's Oil Price Comments Send Prices Plunging Nearly 3% as Iran Talks Loom
Oil prices plummeted nearly 3% after US President Donald Trump criticized major oil companies for excessive profits during the Iran conflict.
Trump accused Chevron and Exxon Mobil of making too much money, saying they should give some back to the public and cut retail prices.
The President's comments came as futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 1.2%, S&P 500 futures gained 0.3%, and Nasdaq futures climbed 1.1% ahead of Tuesday's opening bell.
Benchmark U.S. crude fell $2.46 to $77.88 per barrel, while Brent crude dropped $1.87 to $81.90 per barrel.
