TSX Futures Fall Amid Gold Price Drop and Hopes for Mideast Diplomacy
Futures linked to Canada's TSX index fell on Wednesday due to a drop in gold prices. The S&P/TSX 60 index standard futures contract dropped by 9 points, or 0.4%, from its previous level.
The TSX Composite Index had closed higher the day before, at 36,335.61, marking its highest closing since September 4. This rise was largely due to gains in technology and metal mining shares.
Shares of Canadian e-commerce stalwart Shopify advanced by 7.4%, thanks to a partnership with Meta on AI-enhanced shopping announced earlier this week.
The fall in gold prices was partly caused by a stronger US dollar, which makes gold more expensive for overseas buyers.
