TSX Futures Rise as Oil Prices Plummet Amid Global Bond Rally
Futures linked to Canada's main stock index, the TSX, rose on Monday amid an extended decline in oil prices. This movement is part of a global bond rally sparked by central banks' interest rate hikes.
The Bank of Canada Governor Tiff Macklem is set to speak later today, with traders pricing in about a 60% chance of an interest rate rise at its next meeting in October. The Federal Reserve, Bank of Japan, and European Central Bank have all lifted borrowing costs this month.
Oil prices dropped despite the ongoing conflict in Yemen, which has disrupted oil supplies in the past. Saudi Arabia's oil exports bounced back to 4 million barrels per day in September, up from August's 2.4 million bpd.
