TSX Futures Slide Amid Gold Price Drop, Mideast Tensions
TSX futures declined on Wednesday amid a gold price drop and investors keeping tabs on diplomatic efforts to ease Middle East tensions.
The S&P/TSX Composite Index closed 0.9% higher at 36,335.61 on Tuesday, its highest level since September 4, thanks largely to gains in technology and metal mining shares.
A key driver of the index's rise was Canadian e-commerce stalwart Shopify's partnership with Meta on AI-enhanced shopping, which saw its shares advance by 7.4% earlier this week.
U.S. futures also edged lower as traders geared up for a U.S.-China summit, with the contract retreating by 60 points or 0.1%, and S&P 500 futures mostly unchanged.
