Futures tracking Canada's blue-chip stocks fell by 0.13% on Wednesday as escalating US-Iran tensions drove oil prices towards $100 a barrel, rekindling inflation fears and dampening risk appetite.

The S&P/TSX index September futures slid in line with Brent crude prices, which reached the $100 mark for the first time since July due to the ongoing conflict in the Gulf region.

Risks to global energy supplies have increased as the six-month-old conflict escalated, putting inflation firmly back on investors' radar ahead of Friday's US inflation data.
