Futures tracking Canadian equities fell on Wednesday due to lower metal prices pressuring mining stocks. The TSX futures slipped as gold and silver declined amid hawkish signals from US Federal Reserve officials, while copper also moved lower.

CIBC downgraded Endeavour Silver to 'neutral' from 'outperformer', further contributing to the decline of Canadian miners. Despite the downturn in metal prices, oil prices rose due to uncertainty over diplomatic efforts to end the US-Iran war and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

The increase in oil prices stoked energy-driven inflation fears, leading to higher bond yields that pressured credit-sensitive stocks such as major banks.
