Turkey-Azerbaijan Energy Partnership Expands Beyond Gas and Oil
Energy cooperation between Turkey and Azerbaijan has reached new heights, transforming into a multi-dimensional strategic partnership. The partnership now extends beyond natural gas and oil to encompass electricity transmission, renewable energy, and regional interconnection, with a target of implementing this by 2026.
Alparslan Bayraktar, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, emphasized that the aim is to advance the long-standing strong partnership between the two countries within a deeper and more strategic framework in the field of electricity. This development represents a concrete manifestation of the 'one nation, two states' principle in the energy sector.
The agreement signed during Baku Energy Week highlights the institutional depth of the Turkey-Azerbaijan energy partnership. With new production investments in the Absheron Field, it is planned to supply 33 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Turkey from 2029 onwards.
