Turkey Boosts Domestic Oil and Gas Production Amid Global Energy Goals
Türkiye's domestic oil and natural gas production continues to rise without slowing down, according to Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar. In the first half of this year, the country produced 23.1 million barrels of oil and 1.641 billion cubic meters of natural gas.
The Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO) accounted for most of the production, with 21.8 million barrels of oil coming from TPAO wells and 1.608 billion cubic meters of natural gas coming from the Sakarya Gas Field. The Gabar field produced the largest share of domestic oil, at 60%.
Bayraktar stated that the country will double its natural gas production in the Black Sea this year, while increasing oil production by opening new wells in Gabar. He also noted that Türkiye is carrying out oil and natural gas activities not only domestically but also abroad, with initiatives in Somalia, Libya, Iraq, and other countries.
