Turkish Oil and Gas Output Surges on Back of Gabar and Sakarya Fields
Türkiye's oil and gas production surged in the first half of 2026, driven by the Gabar and Sakarya fields. According to the Energy and Natural Resources Ministry, the country produced 23.1 million barrels of oil during this period.
The majority of the oil output came from the Gabar field, which accounted for 60 percent of the total production. State-run Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO) was responsible for producing 21.8 million barrels of oil during this time.
Natural gas output also saw a significant increase, with a total of 1.641 billion cubic meters produced in the first half of 2026. The Sakarya Gas Field in the Black Sea accounted for 92 percent of the natural gas production.
Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar emphasized Türkiye's commitment to increasing domestic oil and natural gas production, stating that 'we are increasing our oil production through new wells at Gabar, while this year we will double our natural gas production in the Black Sea.'
