Turkish, Pakistani, and Saudi Military Chiefs Meet Amid Houthi Attacks

The military chiefs of Turkey, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia met to discuss support for Saudi Arabia under their mutual defense pact. The meeting followed talks in New York among the three countries' foreign ministers, who condemned Houthi attacks on Saudi civilian and economic sites.

Turkey's chief of general staff traveled to Saudi Arabia for the talks, which were confirmed by Turkey's Ministry of National Defense with a photo of the three officers together. The meeting aimed to consider ways to support Saudi Arabia under the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement, signed in August.

The pact treats an attack on one member as an attack on all three. However, neither Turkey nor Pakistan has announced military strikes against the Houthis under the agreement. The Houthi forces have intensified attacks on Saudi Arabia since July, threatening oil infrastructure and shipping in the Red Sea.
