U.S. Data Centres' Gas Consumption to Surpass Germany and Japan Combined by 2035
U.S. data centres' natural gas consumption is projected to skyrocket by 2035, surpassing the combined consumption of Germany and Japan.
A forecast from BloombergNEF (BNEF) shows that U.S. data centres will consume about 18 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day in 2035, almost double the estimate from just nine months earlier.
This growth is driven by the expansion of AI data centres, which could shake not only power grids but also the U.S. gas market, electricity bills, and carbon emissions.
