U.S. Gold Equities Soar Amid Fed Rate Hike Uncertainty

The U.S. gold equities market has seen a significant surge in recent times, with spot gold prices surpassing $4,250 per ounce. This rise has propelled U.S. gold stocks and ETFs to their best weekly performance in over a year, reflecting strong market demand and investor confidence.

The unexpected drop of 23,000 jobs in the recent U.S. non-farm payrolls data has led markets to anticipate that the Federal Reserve will defer rate hike plans. This is further enhancing gold's appeal as a safe-haven asset and putting downward pressure on the dollar.

Global physically backed gold ETFs recorded net inflows of 23.5 metric tons valued at approximately $2.97 billion in July, primarily driven by European funds. The People's Bank of China also expanded its gold reserves by 20 metric tons in July, marking the largest single-month addition since October 2023.
