UAE Condemns Iranian Attack as 'Acts of Piracy' on Oil Vessel in Strait of Hormuz
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has condemned an Iranian attack on one of its oil vessels as it passed through the Strait of Hormuz, calling it an 'act of piracy'.
The UAE's Foreign Ministry said the August 8th incident violated a UN Security Council resolution on freedom of navigation and accused Iran's Revolutionary Guards of using commercial shipping as a tool of economic pressure.
No injuries were reported in the attack, but it is the latest in a series of disruptions to shipping in the region since the US-Israeli war on Iran began on February 28th. The UAE's state oil company, ADNOC, has been significantly affected by these attacks, with 15 of its vessels targeted by missiles and drones since the start of the conflict.
