Gold demand in the UAE surged by 25.3% in Q2 of 2026 compared to Q1, reaching 10.9 tonnes, according to the World Gold Council.

This significant increase is primarily attributed to heightened consumer interest in gold bars and coins, which experienced a quarter-on-quarter growth of 32.5% to reach 5.3 tonnes.

Despite this impressive figure for Q2, gold demand throughout the first half of 2026 experienced a notable decline of 14% year-on-year, totaling 19.6 tonnes compared to 22.8 tonnes during the same timeframe in 2025.

The trend indicates a shift in consumer behavior, with purchasers increasingly favoring gold as an investment rather than mere adornment.
