UK Diesel Price Hits Record High Amid Oil Supply Disruptions
The UK diesel price has reached a record high of £2 per litre, with a 40.5% increase since late February due to disruptions in crude and refined oil supplies from the Gulf.
The RAC motoring group reported that the average price had risen to 200.01p per litre, making it £110 to fill up an average family car, nearly £32 more than before the Iran war.
Petrol prices are also rising, with a 31.5% increase since February 28, taking the cost of a typical tank to £96, just over £23 more than before the US-Iran conflict.
The UK is not facing a diesel shortage, but transport minister Keir Mather said it's seeking emergency supplies from European allies after Donald Trump threatened to cut off US supplies.
