UK Grain Futures Weaken Amid Volatility
The UK future grain markets weakened slightly last week, according to the Agricultural and Horticultural Development Board (AHDB). The price of UK feed wheat futures dropped by £3.25 per tonne over the seven-day period ending Friday, July 31, closing at £196.50 per tonne.
Global grain markets remained volatile but generally ended down under pressure. Prices initially eased from the previous week's Black Sea-related gains, before being supported on Thursday due to renewed attacks on grain infrastructure and shipping that heightened concerns over potential disruption to exports from the region.
However, these gains proved short-lived as global grain futures fell on Friday following strong gains throughout July. Market sentiment was influenced by currency movements and broader supply fundamentals.
