Ukraine Completes Major Harvests with 35 Million Tons Collected
Ukrainian farmers have made significant progress in the 2026 harvest season, collecting 35.174 million metric tons of grains and legumes from 62.7% of the projected area. The average yield stands at 4.84 tons per hectare, according to the Agriculture Ministry's report on Oct. 6.
The harvest breakdown includes 26 million metric tons of wheat from 5.11 million hectares, with an average yield of 5.08 tons per hectare. Barley and peas have also been fully harvested, with 6.6 million and 823,700 metric tons collected, respectively. Corn harvests reached 1.623 million metric tons from 6% of the planted area, while millet and buckwheat harvests are nearly complete.
The largest volumes of early grains and legumes were harvested in Odesa Oblast, followed by Dnipropetrovsk and Mykolaiv oblasts. The highest average grain yields were recorded in Khmelnytskyi, Sumy, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Vinnytsia oblasts. Additionally, farmers have collected 3.88 million metric tons of rapeseed and 5.383 million metric tons of sunflower seeds.
The soybean harvest reached 1.89 million metric tons, and sugar beets accounted for 824,600 metric tons from 10% of the planted area. Ukraine's 2026 harvest campaign began in mid-June, with over 20 million hectares planted with grains and oilseeds. Preliminary estimates suggest a total harvest of 81 to 83 million metric tons, with grain production forecasted at 60 to 61 million metric tons.
