Ukraine Drone Attack Hits Russian Naval Base and Grain Terminals
A drone attack by Ukraine on Novorossiysk's naval base and major grain export terminals has caused significant damage, resulting in at least three deaths, including an eight-year-old child. The strikes also injured dozens of people.
Russian media reported that the attack was carried out with drones and missiles, hitting warships at a naval base and forcing two major grain terminals to halt operations. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that two frigates, a large landing ship, a corvette, and other vessels were hit in the attack.
The grain terminal shutdowns have raised concerns about potential disruptions to global food supplies, as Russia is the world's largest wheat exporter. Chicago wheat futures rose around 3% on Wednesday after the attack, according to Reuters.
Russia's foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova claimed that the campaign 'serves the interests of certain Western nations,' and warned of potential chaos in the global food market.
