Ukraine Grain Crisis Hits Critical Point Amid Russia Attacks
The situation in Ukraine's grain crisis has reached a critical point due to Russia's intensified attacks on Ukrainian ships and infrastructure in the Black Sea, through which Kiev depends for about 90% of its agricultural exports.
According to Taras Vysotskyi, Ukraine's Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, wheat prices have increased by an average of 25 percent, and this could lead to an additional $60 billion (about 53 billion euros) in costs for consumers worldwide within a year if consumption patterns remain unchanged.
Vysotskyi acknowledged that negotiations with partners are underway to create security conditions for civilian goods, including Ukrainian agricultural products, but expressed skepticism about Russia's commitment to any agreement, stating 'we can never trust what will happen tomorrow' after signing an agreement.
