Ukraine Grain Exports Plummet as Drone Attacks Disrupt Corridor
The Ukrainian grain corridor has been severely disrupted due to drone attacks by Russia. Since July 1, USPA has recorded 88 attacks on port infrastructure, 48 on ships in ports, and 39 in the maritime corridor.
This disruption is critical for Ukraine's agricultural sector, which exports an average of 4-4.5 million tonnes (4.4-5 million tons) per month through seaports. About 90% of these exports went through seaports, according to the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).
The shutdown of the corridor has led to lower prices for Ukrainian farmers, who are now selling grain below production cost. Wheat is selling at $15 per tonne below production cost, and barley more than $40 below cost.
