Ukraine Grain Exports Surge in New Season

Ukraine has started its new grain export season on a strong note, with exports up by over 54% in the first month compared to last year. According to data from the Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry, Ukraine exported 2.601 million tonnes of grain and legumes between July 1st and July 31st, exceeding last year's figure of 1.679 million tonnes. This surge in exports is a welcome development for Ukraine's agricultural sector, which has been affected by the ongoing conflict.

The breakdown of exports shows that wheat shipments rose to 1.059 million tonnes from 744,000 tonnes a year earlier, while corn exports increased to 1.244 million tonnes from 627,000 tonnes. Barley exports also saw an uptick to 294,000 tonnes from 267,000 tonnes.

However, flour exports were lower than last year's levels, with only 1,800 tonnes shipped in the first month of the new season compared to 3,600 tonnes a year earlier.
