Ukraine Port Attacks Send Grain Prices Soaring on Chicago Board
Grain prices on the Chicago Board of Trade rose on Tuesday as Ukraine's grain export forecast for the 2026/27 season was cut by up to 12% due to Russian attacks on its ports.
The most-active wheat contract was up 0.4% at $6.42-3/4 a bushel, while soybeans gained 0.1% to $11.80-3/4 a bushel, and corn edged 0.2% higher to $4.62-3/4 a bushel.
The Ukraine agriculture ministry said the disruption could result in a grain storage shortfall of 11 million tons.
APK-Inform analysts also cut their Ukraine grain export forecast by 8.6% to 39.4 million tons due to the disruptions, with wheat, corn and barley exports expected to be lower.
