Ukraine Secures $500 Million Fuel Deal with Polish Energy Group
Naftogaz, Ukraine's state energy company, has signed agreements with Polish energy group ORLEN to secure liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies and petroleum product deliveries worth $500 million. The deals come as Russia continues to target Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
According to Naftogaz, ORLEN will provide three LNG cargoes in the first quarter of 2027. A separate agreement between ORLEN and Ukrnafta, part of the Naftogaz Group, covers the $500 million worth of petroleum product supplies.
Naftogaz acting CEO Serhii Fedorenko emphasized the importance of having reliable gas supplies and diversified delivery routes amid Russia's attacks on domestic production facilities. The companies will also explore supplying Ukrainian crude oil to European refineries and transferring used fuel trucks to Ukrnafta to maintain stable fuel logistics.
The agreements were signed during the Carpathian Summit, a meeting between senior officials from Ukraine and Poland aimed at strengthening cooperation in energy and other areas.
