Ukraine Seeks Partner Support After Massive Russian Grain Export Attack
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has called on Ukraine's partners to strengthen protection for Ukrainian grain exports and civilian shipping in the Black Sea following a massive Russian attack.
Russia launched a series of ballistic and hypersonic missile strikes against Ukraine, targeting ports, grain storage facilities, energy infrastructure, and other critical sites. The Foreign Minister described the attacks as 'state terrorism' that would ultimately prove futile for Moscow's war effort.
Sybiha emphasized that attacks on grain infrastructure pose a significant threat not only to Ukraine but also to approximately 400 million people worldwide who rely on Ukrainian grain imports. He called for immediate action to address the consequences of Russian attacks, including additional routes, quotas, and grain storage equipment to ensure freedom of navigation along Ukrainian maritime routes.
The Foreign Minister also urged Malta to support the protection of civilian shipping in the Black Sea during a phone call with his Maltese counterpart. He stressed the importance of guaranteeing freedom of navigation and protecting Ukrainian ports and the maritime corridor, which remains vital for Ukraine's agricultural exports and global food security.
