Ukraine's Agricultural Exports Fall Short of Expectations
Ukraine's agricultural export performance has been sluggish since August, with only a third of its potential exports realized. According to Taras Vysotskyi, Ukraine's Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, the country has exported 1.423 million tonnes of grain, oilseeds, and processed products from August 1 to 26.
This is significantly lower than the expected export volume for the period, with around 600,000 tonnes transported by rail and another 600,000 tonnes shipped via the Danube route. The government has taken measures to support farmers, including extending the deadline for returning foreign currency earnings from exports of grain, oilseeds, and processed products from 120 to 150 days.
However, export restrictions and high logistics costs are expected to impact farmers' plans for the autumn sowing campaign. The area planted with winter wheat is forecast to decline, while minor changes are anticipated for winter rapeseed and barley.
