Ukraine's Grain Exports Plunge to 38% of Potential Volumes Amid Logistical Issues
Ukraine's agricultural exports in September fell short of expectations, according to Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Taras Vysotsky. From September 1 to 21, Ukraine exported 1.6 million metric tons of agricultural products, which represents only 43% of the volume that would have been exported if the logistics system was operating at full capacity.
The breakdown of exports shows that oilseeds accounted for 75% of potential volumes, followed by oil at 55%, meal at 41%, and grain at a mere 38%. Vysotsky emphasized the need to prioritize exporting value-added products due to these numbers.
Notably, during the first 15 days of September, Ukraine exported 131,000 metric tons of oil, which accounted for 62% of the volume that would have been exported if ports were operating freely. This discrepancy in grain exports is concerning, as it suggests significant challenges in logistics and supply chains.
