Ukrainian Drone Strikes Send Gas Prices Soaring
Gas prices in Mississippi have risen to $3.65 per gallon, nearly one dollar higher than at this point in 2025, according to AAA spokesperson Don Redman.
The national average for regular fuel remains above $4 per gallon, with diesel averaging $5.61 nationwide and $5.30 in the state.
Redman attributed the high prices to ongoing drone strikes by Ukraine on Russian oil refineries, which have disrupted production and driven up costs.
Crude oil prices have also surged amid the conflict, trading at around $88 per barrel as of Monday, compared to $72 in early July.
