Ukrainian Government Caps Natural Gas Prices Through Heating Season
The Ukrainian government has extended its mechanism for imposing special obligations (PSO) on the natural gas market, ensuring that consumers will not face higher prices until March 31, 2027.
This decision maintains the current fixed gas price of 7.96 UAH per cubic meter, excluding distribution costs, which is currently in effect throughout the entire heating season.
The extension of the PSO also preserves preferential rates for heat supply companies and continues terms for the sale of natural gas to gas distribution system operators and for cogeneration in frontline territories.
According to First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal, this decision will ensure a reliable and uninterrupted supply of natural gas, safety, and reliability of the natural gas market, as well as stable operation of heating facilities and Ukraine's power grid as a whole.
