UN Security Council Condemns Houthi Attacks on Saudi Arabia

The UN Security Council has condemned Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia in a rare show of unity from the top body.

The attacks have resulted in the injury of civilians, including women and children, with the Houthis imposing a naval blockade on Saudi Arabia, hitting its tankers, and seizing swaths of Yemen's Red Sea coast vital for oil exports.

This has caused energy prices to jump and is threatening a humanitarian crisis, with 138,000 people displaced across Yemen since August, including 70,000 children, according to the UN.

The Security Council demanded the Houthis immediately cease their military escalation and attacks impacting civilians and civilian objects.
